1st grade with technology!!!!
wow! I am so nervous to use technology with my students. My students are all wonderful but are a handful and a half. The technology that my students will create is a capacity spread sheet where students will place their estimate and the actual amount. Each student will go to the assigned computer in the classroom in their groups to enter the information. Once they have completed their tasks the students will go back to the assigned computer and enter the actual amount.

ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite subject in math is estimation. I think it is a wonderful to use the spreadsheet to incorporate your technology with first graders.

Hola Crystal! I definately hear you about how challenging it is with our students! We are only one person and there is more than 20 of them! Nonetheless, I believe you have developed a TIE plan that will help combat that. The spreadsheet idea for estimation will have them working independently while still learning valuable information. Spreadsheets are definately an important thing to know how to use cause its use translates into accounting, technology, education, and so many more jobs. Furthermore, students will be able to see the visual difference between just estimating and the exact amounts. Too often the difference between the two isn't explained well enough. Oh, that sounds like a great HOTS question! Great post! I look forward to reading your reflection.
